Foundation Programme Director
National
Scotland Deanery
Part Time; 1 PA (4 hours per week)
Fixed Term for 2 years*
Flexible Base / Any NES Office Location
This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to take on the Foundation Programme Director role for a fixed term for 2 years. The role has been developed to support a cohort of foundation doctors who have been recruited this year in addition to the normal complement for the Scotland Deanery. This has arisen due to the high number of medical student applicants for the foundation programmes across the UK. As a result of this initiative to offer additional posts, the foundation doctors will be placed across Scotland. Uniquely this FPD role will involve oversight of trainees in multiples training regions.
The FPD is responsible for the overall management and quality management of a Foundation programme which consists of approximately 30 trainees (both F1 and F2). The FPD supports the delivery of Foundation training programmes and ensures that Foundation doctors are able to access a comprehensive range of experiences to enable them to gain the competencies necessary for full registration and completion of foundation training.
The FPD should be a Consultant, General Practitioner or Career Grade Doctor and is accountable to the Postgraduate Dean through the Associate Dean and Consortium Lead. He or she may also combine the role with that of an educational and/or clinical supervisor.
