An excellent opportunity has arisen to appoint a new Chief Nurse (Community & Mental Health) for the Shetland Community Health and Social Care Directorate/Partnership. The Chief Nurse (Community & Mental Health) is the Senior Nurse Advisor to the Integration Joint Board (IJB).

We are seeking to recruit an inspiring, passionate, talented individual who will support the consistent delivery of high standards of care with a focus on improving patient safety and patient experience, in line with the national care assurance framework for Scotland – Excellence in Care.

The post holder will have experience of leading nurses, relevant clinical services and IJB wide initiatives. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of successfully leading clinical teams, managing change and putting safety, quality and patient experience at the heart of everything you do.

Joining our organisation as Chief Nurse (Community & Mental Health) you will be responsible for the strategic and operational development of nurses and clinical services in the Community Health and Social Care Directorate, this includes leading on urgent care, intermediate care and older peoples care. As part of the Community Health & Social Care Management Team, the Chief Nurse (Community & Mental Health) will work collaboratively with other heads of service and senior clinicians to provide assurance to the Executive Team and the Board that robust systems of governance and care assurance are in place and that high quality patient led services are being developed and delivered.

As part of the senior nursing/midwifery leadership team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of strategic plans for nursing across the whole system as well as Directorate level service plans. Where appropriate, the post holder will continue to undertake clinical work on a sessional basis and will be expected to participate in the Directorate on call roster.

If you are enthusiastic, highly motivated, a great team player and seeking to drive forward the provision of high quality care in Shetland then this is the post for you.

This contract is for a fixed-term for six months. The reason for the fixed-term contract is to allow for ongoing workforce planning and review of establishment.  If you wish to apply for this post as a secondment opportunity, you will need to discuss with your line manager before submitting an application.
