Full Time – 37.5 hours per week plus on-call

Band 7 - Salary Range £40,872 - £47,846 per annum

Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £1,971 per annum

Relocation Assistance of up to £8000 available


We have two exciting opportunities for highly motivated, experienced and qualified Biomedical Scientists to join our multi-disciplinary Laboratory team at the most northerly hospital in the UK as section leads for Clinical Biochemistry and Haematology and Blood Transfusion Science.


You will be able to bring a dynamic and enthusiastic approach to the role, and will have proven knowledge and skills in Clinical Biochemistry, Blood Sciences or Blood Transfusion Science. You will be State Registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and have experience of working in an NHS pathology laboratory (or equivalent) and have relevant post graduate qualifications.

The department is approved by the IBMS for training for state registration and for specialist portfolios and will be implementing Q pulse in 2022. The successful candidates would be expected to undertake the lead in additional roles from the following - Health and Safety, Quality, Training and Specimen Reception supervision. Once trained you will be required to participate in the multi-disciplinary on-call roster.
